McLean Re-Signs with the Ice Flyers

PENSACOLA, Fla. - The 2016 Southern Professional Hockey League President's Cup Champions, the Pensacola Ice Flyers, along with new head coach Kevin Hasselberg have announced that the team has re-signed goalie John McLean.

"I am excited and blessed to return to Pensacola to play for the best hockey organization in the SPHL and play in front of the greatest fans in professional hockey," McLean remarked. McLean hails from Eagan, Minn., and signed with the Ice Flyers in late November of last season. During the 2015-16 campaign, McLean posted a 19-10-0 record with a 2.39 goals against average, a 0.920 save percentage, and one shutout. He appeared in three games at the end of the 2014-15 campaign for the Ice Flyers and went 2-0-0 with a 3.54 GAA and a 0.895 SV%. Prior to starting his professional career, McLean played four seasons at NCAA Division III Gustavus Adolphus College. In 65 career games, McLean amassed a record of 36-12-9 along with a 2.04 GAA and a 0.917 SV%.

"John was an integral part of the Ice Flyers success last season," said Hasselberg. "He has earned a lot of respect from within the league, within the dressing room, and from the community of Pensacola. He is a tremendous addition and we are excited that he is committed to return with the Ice Flyers." The Ice Flyers begin the 2016-17 regular season on Friday, Oct. 21, at 7:05 p.m. inside the Pensacola Bay Center when they face off against the Fayetteville FireAntz. It will be Championship Celebration Night inside the Hangar for the third time in four seasons as the team raises their 2016 President's Cup banner to the rafters.
