JOPLIN, Missouri - The AirHogs dropped their series finale at Joe Becker Stadium with the Joplin Blasters 8-0 Wednesday. It was the 3rd time the AirHogs have been shutout this season.
AirHogs starter Carlos Misell held the Blasters scoreless over the first 2 frames before being tagged by Mitch Glasser for a 2-run home run in the 2nd to open the scoring. The Blasters added 5 more runs on 6 hits in the 4th to blow the contest open.
Derek Callahan set down 7 straight for the AirHogs in relief, and Trey Masek and David Wayne Russo combined to give up 0 ER in the 7th and the 8th, but the Texas bats never got going. The team was held scoreless over the first 5 innings by Chris Treibt before Carlos Fuentes entered to throw the final 4 scoreless frames.
The AirHogs (24-41) open a 4-game set vs. the Gary-Southshore RailCats in Amarillo starting tomorrow at 7:05. RHP Sam Martin is expected to start for the AirHogs.
