Stampede Release 2016-17 Regular Season Schedule

Sioux Falls, SD-The Sioux Falls Stampede unveiled their 2016-17 regular season schedule Wednesday morning. All USHL teams will once again play an unbalanced 60 game schedule (30 home, 30 away) from late September until mid-April. The Herd will play 26 of their 30 home games on weekends. 10 games will be played on Fridays, 12 Saturdays, 4 Sundays, 2 Tuesdays and 2 Thursdays. Click here to view the entire schedule.

The season will begin on September 24th at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center versus the defending Clark Cup champion Tri-City Storm at 7:05 PM and conclude April 7th and 8thth in Sioux Falls in a two-game series against I-29 rival Sioux City. The playoffs are slated to begin the following week with the top four teams from each conference qualifying.

The first 1,500 kids 14-and-under will receive a free Stampede replica jersey, compliments of Waterbury Heating & Cooling and Coleman Heating & Air Conditioning on opening night. Other highlights from the home schedule include Pink in the Rink Night, presented by Sioux Falls Specialty Hospital on November 5th, a New Year's Eve game against Fargo on December 31st, the 10th anniversary of the Sioux Nation Pet Clinic "Wiener Dog Races" on February 18th, Special Olympics Night, presented by Modern Woodmen of America on March 11th and Sioux Falls Ford "Take My Jersey Night" on April 8th.

Tuesday-Saturday games will begin at 7:05 PM, except for New Year's Eve which will be at 6:05 PM. Sunday games will begin at 4:05 PM. The Stampede will also host the 2017 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game on January 10th at 7:05 PM. Ticket information for that game will be made available at a later date. "We are excited for the upcoming season," said Stampede President/CEO Tom Garrity. "With the majority of our home dates falling on weekends, it will make it easier for fans in Stampede Country to attend games. We are pleased to offer some Sunday home games this year as well. We feel the 4:05 PM start time will make for fun family nights. We have some of the best fans in all of hockey and can't wait to drop the puck for the 2016-17 campaign."

The Stampede set a USHL single season attendance record for the second straight year last season, drawing over 200,000 fans in 30 games. The Stampede led the USHL in attendance, averaging over 6,600 fans per-game.

There are once again 17 member clubs this season in the USHL with 8 teams representing the Western Conference (Des Moines, Fargo, Lincoln, Omaha, Sioux City, Sioux Falls, Tri-City and Waterloo) and 9 teams representing the Eastern Conference (Bloomington, Cedar Rapids, Chicago, Dubuque, Green Bay, Madison, Muskegon, Team USA and Youngstown).
