Ogden Raptors News Release
HELENA-The Ogden Raptors (16-20) had a solid night offensively scoring four runs off of nine hits but still lost Tuesday night's seven inning make-up game against the Helena Brewers (14-22).
Mitchell Hansen continues to impress, as he smashed a leadoff triple to begin the game. DJ Peters later drove him home with a single to left field, his 20th RBI of the season. After Peters was caught in his attempt to steal second base, Ibandel Isabel reached the number two bag by crushing a line drive to center field for a double. He then advanced to third on a passed ball, but the Raptors were unable to get another hit in the inning, stranding Isabel on third.
The Brewers matched Ogden by scoring a single run in their half of the first inning off of Weston Wilson's one out double.
Luis Paz was the next Raptor to cross home plate, doing so after he smashed a two out solo home run over the right field fence. The Brewers would best Ogden's efforts this time, scoring three runs in the home half of the second inning.
After the Raptors failed to score in the third inning, Helena padded their lead with another run coming from Ronnie Gideon's solo home run.
The fourth inning began with an Errol Robinson double. Robinson would go on to steal third base and later score off of Luiz Paz's ground out. Again Ogden's efforts were bested by the Brewers when they added another three runs to their lead in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Mitchell Hansen blasted the eighth home run of his great season in the top of the fifth, but that was the last run the Raptors would score.
This loss becomes Ogden's third straight. "It's really unfortunate just how everything has been playing out," Raptor's pitcher Tony Gonsolin said. "But that's baseball so we are going to come out and just compete every day."
The Raptor's will have twice the opportunity to compete Wednesday when they take on Helena in a double header. This story was not subject to the approval of the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues or its clubs.
