Port St. Lucie, FL - The Bradenton Marauders (52-47) had a late lead slip away at Tradition Field as the St. Lucie Mets (53- 45) scored five times in the eighth inning to take Tuesday's series opener 6-3. JT Brubaker allowed one run over seven in- nings, his third start in his last four that he finished the seventh. Bradenton rallied to erase a 1-0 lead in the top of the seventh inning. RF Michael Suchy's two-out fly ball to right was dropped by John Mora. LF Elvis Escobar tied the game with an opposite field single off Paul Paez (W, 2-0). CF Tito Polo gave Bradenton the lead with a single to center. Bradenton added a run in the eighth on an RBI fielder's choice by DH Chase Simpson. RHP Sam Street (L, 1-1) had allowed just three earned runs all season, but was tagged for five earned runs on five hits in the bottom of the eighth inning. David Thompson's bases loaded single plated the tying and go-ahead runs. Tomas Nido's sec- ond RBI hit of the game capped the scored in gave St. Lucie a 6-3 edge. Corey Taylor closed the game for St. Lucie to record his 15th save in 17 tries.
