Davis' Blistering July Is Felt by Blaze

July 26, 2016 - California League (CalL1)
Bakersfield Blaze News Release

What some guys fail to do in their career, Dylan Davis has accomplished in a month.

A recent promotion from Augusta is just the jolt the San Jose Giants need in order to make some postseason noise.

Davis hit a 3-run home run in the bottom of the first inning off of Art Warren during 4-1 a victory over the Bakersfield Blaze.

Davis' homer was his seventh in the month of July and his eight in just 25 games with the Giants.

If Davis can keep these numbers up, he might not be at the Advanced-A level for that long.

Art Warren (L, 0-1) got into some early trouble by giving up a leadoff double to Ronnie Jebavy followed by a 5-pitch walk to Ronnie Garvey in the bottom of the first inning. With Warren in some early trouble, Davis made sure he wasn't escaping the frame unscathed.

Davis hit a fastball on the outside corner of the plate for an opposite field homer to give the Giants a 3-0 advantage.

The lead was more than enough for Mark Reyes (W, 8-4) as the southpaw pitched 7 strong innings, surrendering just one run off of four hits.

The victory for San Jose was just the second time a home team won a game in the series (2-9) as the Giants climbed within six games of Bakersfield for the North Division lead.

The Blaze and Giants continue their 3-game series Tuesday night in San Jose as they look to even the series by sending Osmer Morales to the mound. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00pm with David Gascon on the call courtesy of TuneIn Radio and BakersfieldBlaze.com.
