Bandits Walk off Wild Game in Extras

DAVENPORT, Iowa - The Bandits rallied in extras to take a 6-5 walk-off victory over the Bowling Green Hot Rods in 14 innings in front of 4,168 fans at Modern Woodmen Park on Sunday night. A solo-homer in the ninth by Bowling Green forced extras and the Hot Rods took the lead in the top of the 14th, but the Bandits responded with two runs capped by an infield single from Randy Cesar to score Kyle Tucker to win the game and series.

After David Olmedo-Barrera's solo-blast tied the game in the ninth, and Michael Russell put Bowling Green (17-12, 54-44) on top in the 14th, Quad Cities (17-13, 48-51) came back for the second time in the game to clinch the walk-off win. Kristian Trompiz and Tucker worked walks and Dexture McCall followed with a RBI-single to plate Trompiz and tie the game. A walk to Pat Porter loaded the bases and Cesar hit a slow chopper for a single, scoring Tucker and sending the Bandits into a celebration on the infield.

McCall reached bases six times in the game, collecting three singles and three walks. Myles Straw added three hits and extended his hitting streak to 11 games, setting a new team-high this season.

The Hot Rods broke a scoreless tie with a long ball in the third inning. After David Rodriguez reached on a single and Brandon Lowe worked a walk, Kevin Padlo cranked his 13th homer of the year to give Bowling Green a 3-0 lead.

Quad Cities went on the comeback journey in the sixth. Straw led off the frame with a single and Trompiz followed with a single. McCall worked a walk to load the bases and Pat Porter came through with a two-run single to put the Bandits on the board. Cesar tied the game for Quad Cities, 3-3, with a sacrifice fly that scored McCall.

Three-straight singles helped the Bandits take its first lead of the game in the seventh. Straw and Trompiz led off with two singles to put runners on the corners. Tucker knocked a base hit to plate Straw and put Quad Cities on top 4-3 over the Hot Rods.

Hector Perez took no decision in his River Bandit debut. The righty allowed three runs over four innings on three hits and three walks while striking out three. Zac Person (3-1) took the win for the Bandits, tossing the final two innings and allowing one run. David Schmidt tossed 3.2 innings of one-hit, scoreless relief and Ralph Garza worked two scoreless extra innings for the Bandits.

Elias Torres (0-1) dropped his first decision in his third appearance for Bowling Green. The righty did not record an out while giving up the final two runs on two hits and three walks. Jose Mujica took no decision over six innings. The righty scattered five hits while striking out four in his start. Tyler Brashears went a season-long 6.1 innings, all scoreless, in relief for the Hot Rods

The River Bandits look for a series sweep with RHP Albert Abreu (2-7, 4.05) on the mound for Quad Cities in the Monday finale. RHP Eduar Lopez (1-0, 0.00) takes the ball for Bowling Green in the 1:00 p.m. first pitch.
