Orem, UT-The Voyagers opened up leads of seven and eight runs before holding on late in a 13-10 victory Sunday afternoon at Orem.

With the win, Great Falls (19-16) starts its season-long 10-game road trip with a 2-2 record against the Owlz. The Voyagers are 2.5 games back of Billings in the Pioneer League North Division with the Mustangs playing Sunday night at Grand Junction. Orem (20-15) fell one game back of Idaho Falls in the South Division race.

Great Falls came out of the starting blocks with some early offense in the first. With one out, Mitch Roman reached on a base hit lined into right. Aaron Schnurbusch followed with a walk. Anthony Villa scored both base runners with a two-out double that hopped up against the wall in right-center. The Voyagers then sent 10 men to the plate in a five-run third. Brady Conlan started the damage with a line drive single to left. Villa was hit by a pitch. A sacrifice bunt attempt from Jackson Glines turned into a pitcher's throwing error at first that scored Conlan. Sam Dexter singled to left for a 4-0 lead. Carlos Perez kept it going with a base hit to right. Max Dutto doubled home two more with a shot to right. A fielder's choice RBI for Roman made it 7-0.

Orem jumped back into it with a four-run fourth. Nick Flair lined a double to the track in left-center. With two outs, Brennan Morgan singled to left. Franklin Torres and Jose Rojas each had run scoring singles. A two-run double by Sam McDonnell closed the gap to 7-4.

The Voyagers used a solo home run opposite way to deep left from Max Dutto for an 8-4 advantage. It was Dutto's first homer since joining Great Falls. The lead stretched to 11-4 with a three-run sixth. Mitch Roman reached on an error by the shortstop. Aaron Schnurbusch singled. A ground out by Brady Conlan brought in the first run of the frame. Anthony Villa then clobbered a two-run home run deep to straightaway center for a seven run lead again. It was Villa's second big fly of the season.

In the eighth, Great Falls scored a single run for a 12-4 cushion. Mitch Roman led off the inning with an infield hit and later scored on a bases loaded hit-by-pitch with Jake Jarvis pinch hitting. Orem quickly shaved the lead from eight to three with a five-run bottom of the inning. After the first two batters walked, Alex Abbott produced an RBI double. Brennan Morgan had an RBI base hit. Franklin Torres' infield single up the middle drove in two more. Jose Rojas doubled to the gap in left-center and it was 12-9. Each side plated a run in the ninth for the final margin.

Bernardo Flores recorded his second win of the season on the mound. Flores (2-0) worked five innings and allowed four earned runs on eight hits with two strikeouts and no walks. Brandon Glazer took the loss for Orem. Glazer (1-4) lasted just two-and-a-third and gave up seven runs (five earned) on six hits with one strikeout and two walks. Both sides used five pitchers in the game.

The Owls outhit the Voyagers 14-to-13. Mitch Roman led Great Falls with three hits, two RBIs, and three runs. Anthony Villa, Sam Dexter, and Max Dutto all had two-hit games. Villa homered and doubled with four RBIs and two runs. Dutto homered and doubled with three RBIs and run. Brennan Morgan and Franklin Torres each collected three hits for Orem. Torres drove in three and scored twice. Nick Flair and Jose Rojas had two-hit games. Flair homered and scored three times.

Great Falls stays on the road for its next series at Grand Junction Monday through Wednesday. First pitch Monday night is set for 7:05. The ten-game trip concludes with a three-game set at Billings.
