Memphis Redbirds News Release

OMAHA, Nebraska - The Memphis Redbirds led 4-1 after the top of the sixth, but the Omaha Storm Chasers (Triple-A Royals) came back to win on a two-out, 10th-inning single to take game two of the series, 5-4, Friday night in Omaha.

Memphis (38-42) left 10 runners on base in the game, including five in the eighth, ninth and 10th innings. Dean Anna was 3-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored, and Jacob Wilson homered for the second-straight game and drove in three runs. Alberto Rosario also had three hits, and Michael McKenry extended his hitting streak to six games with a 2-for-5 showing.

Corey Baker gave up a two-out home run in the first, but he then allowed just three hits in the next four innings while the Redbird offense went to work.

Anna hit his first home run of the season on the first pitch of the second inning, and Wilson had a two-run single in the third to put the Redbirds on top 3-1.

Wilson homered for the second-straight game in the sixth to make it 4-1 Redbirds, but Omaha (33-46) tied it up in the home-half when Travis Snider went deep on the first from reliever Dean Kiekhefer after Baker allowed a single and a walk and was lifted.

Baker finished his second outing with the Redbirds giving up three runs on five hits in 5.2 innings.

Both teams threatened in the eighth, with Memphis putting runners on second and third with one out after a sacrifice bunt, before the inning ended with a popout and groundout. Kiekhefer allowed a one-out double in the bottom of the eighth, and after an intentional walk he induced an inning-ending double play to keep the game tied at four after eight frames.

In the ninth, Memphis again had runners on second and third with one out after a sacrifice, but the Storm Chasers got a popout and a strikeout to end the threat.

Corey Littrell came on in the ninth and gave up a single, and he got two quick outs in the 10th before Hunter Dozier doubled and scored on a Snider single to end the game.

The third game in the Memphis-Omaha series is at 7:05 p.m. (CT) tomorrow, and the finale will be at 7:05 Sunday night. Memphis starts a seven-game homestand on Monday, July 4, with a special holiday edition of postgame fireworks, presented by AutoZone. The game on the 4th of July also has three different food and ticket packages available.
