St. Lucie Mets News Release
JUPITER, Fla. - The hit parade continued for the St. Lucie Mets as they pounded out 15 hits on Friday in a 6-3 win over the Palm Beach Cardinals at Roger Dean Stadium.
Tomas Nido and Champ Stuart had three hits apiece and Stuart finished a triple short of the cycle. Kevin Taylor and Tucker Tharp both had two-hit games. All nine players in the lineup had at least one base knock.
Three Mets pitchers combined to walk eight batters and plunk another, but the Cardinals were unable to come up with a big hit to make the Mets pay. The Cardinals loaded the bases in the seventh and eighth on nothing but walks and a hit-by-pitch but could only plate one run on a sac fly.
Corey Taylor recorded the final four outs for his 10th save.
Scarlyn Reyes got the win after holding the Cardinals to three runs on four hits in 6.1 innings. He walked five and struck out six.
The Mets broke a 2-2 tie in the sixth on Tharp's two-out, two-run single that plated Wuilmer Becerra.
Champ Stuart started the seventh with a solo home run, his sixth of the year. Later in the inning Taylor cracked a RBI double. Taylor scored on a throwing error by Cole Lankford to put the Mets up 6-2.
