Salt Lake Bees News Release

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH - Things did not go well for the Salt Lake Bees in their series opener against the Fresno Grizzlies, falling 23-3 on Thursday night. In his Triple-A debut, Astros top prospect Alex Bregman finished 4-for-5 with three RBIs and five runs scored. Grizzly left fielder Preston Tucker finished 5-for-6 with three home runs and eight RBIs. Tucker set an opponent record for total bases in a game with 15 and tied the record for home runs and RBIs. The last time a player hit eight RBIs against Salt Lake was in 1997 by Ernie Young at Edmonton. The Grizzlies finished with 21 hits and four home runs giving the Bees their biggest loss on the season.

Kyle Kendrick (6-3) took the loss for Salt Lake allowing 10 runs over 3 1/3 innings pitched. Coming into the game Kendrick was 3-0 in June with a 2.79 ERA over four starts in the month. PCL All-Star pitcher Brady Rodgers (8-3) won his second game of the season against Salt Lake. The Bees scored a single run in the second, seventh and eighth. Sherman Johnson drove in two runs and finished 2-for-3 with a walk to lead the Bees offense.

The Bees continue their series with Fresno throughout the weekend with postgame fireworks on Friday and Saturday night. Smith's Ballpark will also host a backyard barbecue fireworks show on July 4. More information about the team is available at www.slbees.com.
