Wichita Wingnuts News Release
Prior to tonight's series finale against Texas, the Wingnuts made the following roster moves:
- Placed LHP Charlie Leesman on the inactive list
- Activated INF Matt Chavez from the inactive list
Injured back on May 25 against Joplin, Chavez returns to the Wichita lineup after spending roughly a month on the shelf. In six games prior to his stint on the inactive list, the California native hit .381 with one home run and three runs batted in, including a four-hit game the night before he was injured.

After seeing a late comeback attempt fall a run shy last night, the Wingnuts aim for a series victory over the Texas AirHogs tonight as the two clubs wrap up their four-game set tonight at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.

WINGNUT STREAK SNAPPED
The Wichita Wingnuts had their three-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday night, falling 6-5 to the Texas AirHogs at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium. Texas ambushed Wichita early, plating three in the opening inning. Four of the first five AirHogs singled to bring home the first run, and a couple of ground balls, including one error, helped the visitors to a three-run opening frame. Wichita had an answer in the home half, as an RBI single by Brent Clevlen made it 3-1. Texas got that run back in the next half inning, before the Wingnuts drew back within a run with two in the third. Zack Cox brought one of the two in with a single, and T.J. Mittelstaedt drove in the second with his team-leading 30th RBI of the year. An RBI double by Michael Hur put Texas up 5-3 in the fourth, and the score stayed that way until the seventh when Devon Rodriguez singled to push the lead to three. Wichita rallied for two in the ninth on an RBI double by Harrison Kain and a ground out by Leo Vargas, but with two outs a sharp grounder was speared by Brian Bistagne to strand the tying run at third base.
THE SOUND OF SILENCE
After a one-out triple by Harrison Kain in the fourth, the Wingnut bats went silent until the ninth inning last night, as the Texas staff combined to retire the next 14 in a row. Starter Matt Shepherd set down the final 11 he faced for the AirHogs, before reliever Alan Oaks set Wichita down in order in the eighth. The run of 14 in a row was finally snapped in the ninth, when the AirHogs Carlos Misell walked Martin Medina to start the inning. Two batters later, Richard Prigatano singled to end a drought that had seen Wichita go 16 straight batters without a base hit.
KAIN'S BIG SERIES
Outfielder Harrison Kain has had a big series against Texas so far for the Wingnuts, picking up multiple hits in each of the first three games of the series. Kain now has 13 multi-hit efforts on the season, trailing only Brent Clevlen (16) and Christian Stringer (14). The former Pepperdine Wave is 11-for-23 (.478) in six games against the AirHogs this year and is now hitting .349, which is the seventh-highest batting average among all qualified hitters in the American Association.
