Wichita Wingnuts News Release

WICHITA, Kans. - The Wichita Wingnuts are proud to announce that right-hander Tim Brown has been nominated as one of three finalists for the Wichita Professional Athlete of the Year.

A native of St. Louis, Mo., Brown is in his third season as a member of the Wingnuts rotation. In 2015, the righty led the Wingnuts with 20 starts and 10 wins, the second straight campaign in which he posted those numbers. Brown also worked a team-high 131.1 innings, and owned a 3.28 ERA.

"Tim has been an outstanding leader for us both on and off the field since he arrived here in 2014," Wingnuts General Manager Josh Robertson said. "His continuous hard work has made him a mainstay in our rotation and helped lead us to the playoffs in both of his years here, and to the American Association Championship in his first season with us."

Brown is coming off of his second straight quality start on Tuesday, as he allowed two runs across six innings to beat the Texas AirHogs for his fourth victory of the season. In eight starts this year, the righty has thrown 53.0 innings without allowing a walk.

Joining Brown among the nominees are Wichita Force Wide Receiver Clarence Anderson, and Wichita Thunder Forward Kale Kerbashian. The winner of the Wichita Professional Athlete of the Year Award will be announced as a part of the Johnny Bench Awards at Thursday evening's 2016 Greater Wichita Sports Banquet, held at Century II Exhibition Hall.

The Wichita Wingnuts wrap up a four-game series with the Texas AirHogs Thursday night at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium. For information on tickets, group outings, and party packages, call the Wingnuts' main office at (316) 264-NUTS, or visit the Wingnuts' official website at www.wichitawingnuts.com.
