P-NATS DOWN DASH IN 11TH INNING

In a wacky Wednesday matinee, Potomac tied the game in the eighth on a Raudy Read RBI double and won in the 11th on a Max Schrock run-scoring single in a 3-2 decision at Pfitzner Stadium. Winston-Salem had multiple chances to score and ultimately left 12 men on base, one shy of the club's high-water mark for 2016. The Dash went 3-for-12 with runners in scoring position, with their lone scoring frame coming in the sixth when Toby Thomas and Chris O'Dowd strung together back-to-back RBI singles.

SUCCESSFUL STEPHENS

Wednesday starter Jordan Stephens continued his recent surge with his fifth consecutive quality start. The lone blemish during Stephens' six-inning outing was a Schrock solo homer in the sixth, which ended the right-hander's 20.2-frame scoreless stretch that dated back to the fourth inning on June 10 at Carolina. However, the Dash's offense once again stumbled with the former Rice Owl on the bump. Winston dropped to 4-11 when Stephens starts, and the Dash are averaging just 3.1 runs in those contests.

MORE GREAT PITCHING

The Dash's rotation has been brilliant in the last 12 games since June 14. Winston-Salem starters have surrendered just 11 earned runs in 78.1 innings, which calculates to a 1.26 ERA. Only once during this stretch has a Dash hurler given up more than two earned runs (Kelvis Valerio: 4 ER on Monday). The Dash's rotation ERA has dropped more than a half-run from 4.12 to 3.61.

ACE HIGH

Right-hander Spencer Adams, the third-best prospect in the White Sox system per multiple outlets, will attempt to continue this stellar run in Thursday's opener. The 20-year-old paces the Carolina League in innings (94.2), 8.2 frames higher than teammate Thad Lowry for second. This total is good for 11th in all of Minor League Baseball. Adams also stands 13th in the CL with a 3.52 earned run average.

ONE LAST HURRAH

Winston-Salem and Wilmington reconvene for their fourth and final series of 2016. By the time Sunday's finale is in the books, the Dash will have played the Blue Rocks in 15 of their last 26 contests dating back to June 4. These two clubs did not play over the Dash's first 55 contests, and there will still be 60 games on Winston-Salem's schedule after this weekend. So far this year, Winston-Salem enjoys a 7-4 advantage in its duel with Wilmington, though the Blue Rocks did defend home to the tune of a two-out-of-three take at Frawley Stadium from June 13-15.

MORE ON WEDNESDAY'S CONTEST

The Dash fell to 2-4 in extra-inning games after the 11-frame marathon, which was the third-longest game in time this year for the club (3:44). Four Winston hitters logged multi-hit games, including Toby Thomas, who went 3-for-4. In his last five games, Thomas is hitting .529 (9-for-17) after posting just a .111 (2-for-18) mark in his previous five contests. However, a pair of the club's most dependable hitters are in mini-funks. All-Star Hunter Jones is 0-for-11 since the middle innings of Sunday's game against the Blue Rocks, while Nick Basto is hitless in his last 10 trips to the plate since late Sunday.

RISP-Y BUSINESS

The Dash have labored with men in scoring position thus far this half. Winston-Salem was 3-for-19 in the rain-shortened Potomac series after going 9-for-41 during the series victory over Wilmington last weekend at BB&T Ballpark. Thus, Winston is 12-for-60 (.200) in these run-scoring spots in the last six games, including just 5-for-31 in the last three contests.

DASH DOTS

Newcomer Telvin Nash is 5-for-19 with Winston-Salem, with four of those hits going for extra bases (two HR and two 2B)...O'Dowd recorded his first multi-hit since May 7 while with Double-A Birmingham...The Dash are just 22-18 when scoring first (9-27 when opposition scores first).
