Quakes Drop Rubber-Game in Visalia; Home Thursday

Visalia, CA - The Visalia Rawhide took two of three from Rancho Cucamonga, sending the Quakes to an 8-7 loss on Wednesday night at Recreation Park.

After Rancho rallied from a 6-2 deficit to tie the game at 7-7, the Rawhide untied the game in the last of the seventh, taking an 8-7 lead when Dawel Lugo tripled and scored on a wild pitch by Felipe Gonzalez (1-3).

The Rawhide bullpen was solid over the final two innings, holding Rancho off the board by retiring all six batters.

?Quakes' starter Yaisel Sierra endured another tough outing, as he got knocked around for six runs on 11 hits over just five innings of work.

Despite getting solo homers from Joey Curletta (7th) and Johan Mieses (12th), the Quakes were unable to hold a 2-1 lead, as Visalia stormed back in the bottom of the fourth inning, taking their first lead since Monday.

After a game-tying single by Robelys Reyes, Chuck Taylor followed with his second homer of the series and just his third of the year, making it 4-2.

Sierra got touched for his second homer in as many innings in the fifth, as Dawel Lugo took him deep to left, his 11th of the year to make it a 6-2 affair.

Rancho got back into the game with three in the sixth, as Edwin Rios clubbed a two-run double, then scored on a Matt Beaty two-out single, making it 6-5 and chasing Visalia starter Josh Taylor. Gabriel Moya came out of the bullpen to get the final out of the inning by striking out Michael Ahmed, preserving the lead.

After a run in the sixth for Visalia made it a 7-5 game, Tim Locastro evened the game with a two-run double in the seventh.

?Visalia reliever Gabe Speier (1-0) earned the win in relief, while Bud Jeter nailed it down for his 12th save in as many tries this year.?

?On Thursday night, the Quakes return to LoanMart Field, taking on the Stockton Ports in a four-game series. Rancho (3-4, 45-32) will send Tommy Bergjans (2-8) to the mound, opposite Ports lefty Matt Stalcup (2-0).
