(Rochester, NY) - The Pawtucket Red Sox could only muster a season-low one hit in a 3-0 defeat to starter Jose Berrios and the Rochester Red Wings on Tuesday night at Frontier Field.

The lone Pawtucket hit came with one out in the seventh inning, when Jantzen Witte hit a hard groundball down the left field line for a double. Otherwise, the PawSox (40-39) were held without a baserunner in every other inning except for the fourth.

In that frame, Berrios (7-3) walked Brock Holt, hit Chris Marrero with a pitch and then walked Witte to load the bases with two outs. But Berrios struck out Aneury Tavarez to prevent Pawtucket from converting on its only threat of the night.

Berrios struck out six, while allowing just the four aforementioned baserunners in seven shutout innings. He has surrendered only three hits in 14 scoreless innings pitched in two starts against the PawSox this season.

Rochester relievers Marcus Walden and Trevor May each tossed a perfect inning of relief to close out the victory.

Holt, making the seventh start of his rehabilitation assignment, played the entire game at shortstop following his day off on Monday.

He went 0-for-3 at the plate with a walk and a well-struck, deep flyout in the first inning.

Ryan Hanigan, who also took yesterday off, played the entirety of his fifth rehab game at catcher. He went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts at the plate.

Pawtucket starter Justin Haley (1-2) allowed three runs (all earned) on six hits and three walks in five innings.

After a 1-2-3, 10-pitch first inning, he surrendered two runs in a 33-pitch second inning.

After a single and two walks loaded the bases in the second, John Ryan Murphy lined a two-run single to center that gave the Red Wings (46-33) a 2-0 lead.

Haley was able to pitch out of another bases-loaded jam in the third and pitch around Murphy's double in the fourth.

However, the rehabbing Miguel Sano led off the bottom of the fifth with a blast (2) over the right center field fence, his second home run of the series.

Robby Scott tossed two shutout innings of relief and fanned three batters in the seventh inning. He has 32 strikeouts and no walks in his last 13 appearances.

Noe Ramirez did not allow a run in the eighth inning, extending his scoreless streak to 14.0 innings.

Coincidentally, the PawSox claimed their own one-hitter exactly one week ago when Henry Owens also allowed his only hit with one out in the seventh inning.

Pawtucket finishes its three-game series with a rubber match in Rochester tomorrow at 1:35 p.m. PawSox lefthander Roenis Elias (4-3, 3.93) is scheduled to take the mound against Rochester lefty Logan Darnell (8-5, 3.29). Radio coverage on WHJJ (920 AM) and throughout the PawSox radio network begins at 1:05 p.m.

The PawSox will return home for a four-game, holiday-weekend series against the Columbus Clippers on Thursday. Friday, Saturday and Sunday's contests will all feature post-game fireworks shows. Good seats for each of the games are still available at the McCoy Stadium box office; call (401) 724-7300 or visit pawsox.com to get your tickets today.
