KOKOMO, IND. - Home clashes with Chillicothe and Lafayette Tuesday and Wednesday, June 28 and 29, close out the 2016 Prospect League first half schedule.

A half-game separates the top three teams on the Eastern Division standings. The West Virginia Miners headline the group with a 15-12 record, while the Kokomo Jackrabbits and Lafayette Aviators are each at 15-13. The Butler Bluesox remains a part of the first half championship picture, too, at 14-14.

CELEBRATING AMERICA: With the July 4th holiday nearing, the Jackrabbits begin their America promotion. Tuesday's 6:35 p.m. first pitch is spotlighted by Military Appreciation Night, as military members and veterans in attendance receive $5 dugout reserved seats and a $1 hot dog meal deal, while all fans can purchase two for one Backyard seats. Wednesday's 6:35 p.m. start features kids 12 and under eating free with a meal of one hot dog, a bag of chips and a soda.

NEWS AND NOTES: Pointstreak Sports Technologies and the Prospect League announced their Week Three Pitcher and Player of the week awards Monday, June 27. Terre Haute's Niko Decolati was named Player of the Week, while the Jackrabbits' Mike Anthony was named Pitcher of the Week. The Lock Haven University hurler went 2-0 over two starts during the week, including a complete-game shutout against Springfield June 21. For the week, Anthony threw 14 1/3 innings and allowed just one unearned run on six hits. He struck out 13 and walked just one ... Several Gold and Brown players rank high on the current PL statistics report. On the offensive end, outfielder Griffin Harms of Wayne State University is just outside the top 10 in batting average (11th - .330) while being tied for eighth in hits (30); infielder Logan Barnes of Indiana University - Southeast is tied for sixth in triples (two); outfielder Alex Del Rio from the University of Missouri and infielder Caleb Stayton of Ball State University are tied for fourth in home runs (three); and utility player Clay Benefield of Indiana University - Southeast is tied for 10th in RBI (16). Anthony tops the pitching mound recognition, leading the league in innings pitched (38) and sitting second in earned run average (1.42) while not being too far from the top 10 in strikeouts (12th - 26). Relief pitcher Trey Bickel of Indiana University - South Bend is tied for fourth with three saves.
