Timely Hitting Spurs Blowfish over Steamers

June 27, 2016 - Coastal Plain League (Coastal Plain)
Lexington County Blowfish News Release

EDENTON, N.C. - The Blowfish were struggling to find offence with nobody on and two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Edenton led Lexington County at that point 1-0.

The Fish strung together 4 straight singles to grab the lead in the seventh and never looked back.

Edenton grabbed the lead in the bottom of the first when Aaron Aucker (Middle Tennessee State) came into score on a wild pitch from Tyler Norris (Bethune Cookman)

Norris was borderline dominate from that point on.

Norris went 7 strong innings only allowing 3 Clam's hits while striking out 9. He was handed the lead in the seventh inning after the Blowfish strung together some two out magic.

Adam Sasser (Georgia) started the rally with a two out single past a diving Jimbo Pernetti (Cal State Chico) at first. Bennette Hill (North Greenville) followed it up with a single through the hole on the left side setting the table for Brett Auckland (Presbyterian).

Auckland laced a knock down the right field line that was mishandled by Edenton right fielder Tony Rosselli (Indiana State) allowing Sasser and Hill to come on in to score giving the Blowfish the lead 2-1.

Tate Gillespie (Navarro) came in for Norris in the eighth and set down the Steamers to keep the lead going into the ninth.

After Nate Blanchard (Charleston Southern) reached via an error and Brandon Johnson (Richmond) doubled, Hill plated two with a big single to pad the lead.

Auckland stepped in on the left side after the two run single and launched a moonshot homer to right field giving Lexington County the 6-1 lead.

Edenton added two in the ninth via the Trey Hair two run homer to dead center but Gillespie would shut the door on the Clams as the Blowfish picked up the much needed road win.

The road trip continues for the Fish tomorrow as they head to Holly Springs to take on the Salamanders. Coverage begins at 6:50 p.m. on z93.1 FM The Lake and first pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m.
