Augusta GreenJackets News Release
Augusta, GA - The GreenJackets (41-34) stayed red-hot Monday evening at Lake Olmstead Stadium, as they welcomed in the Asheville Tourists (36-38).
Augusta activated both Dillon Dobson and starting pitcher Grant Watson off the disabled list prior to the game, as Watson made his first start since May 25th.
The GreenJackets scored a pair in the third inning, with Lucius Fox singling in Johneshwy Fargas. Another run scored off a fielding error by shortstop Scott Burcham, as Shawon Dunston Jr made it 2-0.
Watson pitched 3.0 innings, allowing four hits and striking out two.
Luis Pino pitched five innings, striking out three and earning his first win of the season. Junior Arias homered for the second time this season in the 8th, putting the Jackets up 5-1. Augusta is now 5-0 in the second-half, as they make their playoff push.
Since the GreenJackets scored five runs, fans went home with free crazy bread thanks to Little Caesars, and free Bojangles Biscuits as the games' Bo Batter struck out.
The GreenJackets return to action Tuesday night against the Asheville Tourists. It's Tuesday Brewsday, featuring half-priced draft beer and fountain sodas. It's also our Bank Challenge Night as we see which bank and credit union sends the most fans to the Lake! First pitch is 7:05pm, with gates opening at 6:00pm.
The probables are Jake McCasland (1-2, 1.31 ERA) versus Jesus Tinoco (0-1, 5.87 ERA).
The 28th consecutive season of professional baseball in Augusta is underway.
