Yard Goats Eat up Fisher Cats 8-2 on Monday

Manchester, NH - The Hartford Yard Goats (41-33) defeated the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (32-43) by the score of 8-2 on Monday evening at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester, New Hampshire in the first of a three games series. The Yard Goats broke a 1-1 tie by scoring four runs in the third inning on four consecutive hits off Fisher Cats starter Jeremy Gabryszwski. After Zach Osborne walked, Raimel Tapia, David Dahl and Pat Valiaka each ripped RBI extra base hits. Dillon Thomas continued the hit parade with a run scoring single. Raimel Tapia had four of Hartford's 15 hits and he now leads the Eastern League with 91 hits. Zach Jemiola pitched well in six innings to earn the win and become Hartford's first six game winner.

New Hampshire scored the first run of the game on an RBI single by former Red Sox catcher Ryan Lavarnway in the bottom of the first inning. Hartford answered with a run in the top of the second on a sacrifice fly by Correlle Prime.

The Yard Goats broke the 1-1 tie and scored four times in the third inning on four straight hits and took a 5-1 edge. Zach Osborne walked with one out, Raimel Tapia followed with an RBI double scoring Osborne and gave Hartford a 2-1 lead. David Dahl continued the rally with a double to center and scored Tapia, making it 3-1 Hartford. Pat Valaika then cracked a triple, bringing home Dahl and put Hartford ahead by a 4-1 score. Dillon Thomas added to the lead with his RBI single, scoring Valaika and giving the Yard Goats a 5-1 lead.

Hartford added a pair of runs in the fifth inning to take a 7-1 lead. Pat Valaika's RBI grounder and Ryan McMahon's RBI single gave the Yard Goats more breathing room and chased Gabryszwski from the game.

Austin House and Rayan Gonzalez worked three scoreless innings of relief for the Yard Goats.

The Yard Goats continue the 3-game series against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Tuesday night in Manchester, NH (7:05 PM). RHP German Marquez will start for Hartford while LHP Shane Dawson will start for the Fisher Cats. The game will be broadcast live on News Radio 1410 WPOP.
