June 27, 2016 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
San Jose Earthquakes News Release
The California Clasico once again provided plenty of drama Saturday night. A 90th minute header tied things up for the Quakes and sent fans home happy. One of the unsung heroes of the match was defender Marvell Wynne, who racked up an impressive 6 tackles and 3 pass interceptions. His efforts were the backbone of a solid defensive stand that withstood 11 Galaxy shots and gave the Quakes the opportunity to put up 23 of their own.
MLS recognized Wynne's prowess on the field and awarded him a spot on the Week 16 Team of the Week. Chad Barrett was also included on the TOTW bench for his clutch header goal that brought all 50,000 fans to their feet. Stanford Stadium certainly did not lack fireworks on Saturday night in an intense affair on The Farm. Congrats, Chad and Marvell!
