Blazers Regular Season Schedule Released

Kamloops, BC - The Kamloops Blazers will kick off the 2016-17 regular season with a home-and-home series with the Kelowna Rockets. The two teams will play in Kamloops on Friday, September 23rd and in Kelowna on Saturday, September 24th.

The Blazers will play 21 of their 36 home games on Friday, Saturday or Sunday nights this season. They will play 10 home games on Wednesday nights, four games on Tuesday nights, and one game on B.C. Family Day on Monday, February 13th.

The schedule is balanced throughout the season as the Blazers will play three games in September, 13 in October, 12 in November, December, January and February and eight in March.

The hockey club has an even split of games before and after the Christmas break, with 17 home games and 19 road games prior to the Christmas break and 19 home games and 17 road games after the Christmas break.

The Blazers will play eight of their first 10 games on the road this season. There is only two occasions where the Blazers will play three games in three nights this season.

Some other Schedule Notes:

- The Blazers will host two Sunday home games this year. The start time for Sunday home games will now be 5:00pm

- There are two weekend games that will be played at 5:00pm on Friday, November 11th and Saturday, December 31st

- The Blazers will not travel to the East Division, and all six East Division teams will play in Kamloops this season

- 34 games will be played against B.C. Division opponents including 10 versus Kelowna, and eight versus Vancouver, Prince George and Victoria

- The Blazers longest road trip will be seven games from September 24th until October 8th which will include games in Kelowna, Victoria, Vancouver, Red Deer, Calgary and Medicine Hat

- There will be three five-game home stands this season from October 19th to October 28th, November 23rd to December 4th and January 13th to January 21st longest home stand of the season will be five straight home games from October 21st to November 3rd.

- The Blazers will host a B.C. Family Day game on Monday, February 13th at 2:00pm

The 2016-17 season will be the 36th season in the WHL for the Kamloops franchise, and the 33rd as the Kamloops Blazers.
