Mississippi Braves News Release

PEARL, MS - Mississippi Braves RHP Mauricio Cabrera has been promoted directly to the Atlanta Braves from Double-A Mississippi. Cabrera is the 18th M-Brave to receive a promotion directly to the big leagues from Pearl, and he's now one of more than 100 former M-Braves to receive a call up to the show.

Cabrera, 22, was 3-3 with four saves and a 3.21 ERA in 25 relief appearances this season with the M-Braves. He'd struck out 35 in 33.2 innings of work. Opponents were hitting just .165 against the hard-throwing right-hander who's been clocked at 102 MPH this season.

Cabrera entered the 2016 season ranked by Baseball America as the Braves No. 29 prospect. He split the 2015 season between High-A Carolina and Double-A Mississippi where he combined to post a 2-3 record with a save and a 5.59 ERA in 36 outings. Cabrera struck out 53 in 48.1 innings of work.

A native of the Dominican Republic, Cabrera was signed by the Braves as a non-drafted free agent on July 2, 2010.

The Mississippi Braves baseball team is the Double-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves. Since the inaugural 2005 season, over 100 M-Braves have gone on to play in the big leagues. The M-Braves have made postseason play three times and went on to win the Southern League Championship in 2008. Tickets are on sale now. Stop by Trustmark Park or call 888-BRAVES4 Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM.
