BROOKLYN, NY - While it was a New York Mets shortstop of the past that got the headlines coming into Sunday's game at MCU Park, it was the possible the shortstop of the future Colby Woodmansee who starred on the field. The fifth round pick from Arizona State went 4-for-4 with a run scored, and RHP Erik Manoah (1-0) allowed just one hit over 6.0 frames to lead Brooklyn to a 1-0 lead on Sunday afternoon.

A standing room only crowd of 7,851 filled MCU Park to see the four-time All-Star Jose Reyes take the field for the Cyclones in his first game since rejoining the Mets organization. Making his first start at third base since August 5, 2000, as a member of the Kingsport Mets, Reyes went 0-for-3 and fielded three defensive chances at the hot corner.

After trading zeroes through the first three innings, Brooklyn broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth. Woodmansee got the rally started with a one-out double and the former Sun Devil came around to score on an RBI single from Jacob Zanon that proved to be all the offense Brooklyn would be able to muster, but also all the offense they would need as a pair of Cyclones hurlers blanked the Renegades.

Manoah (1-0) allowed just one hit and one walk while striking out four before turning the ball over to Raul Jacobson who tossed 3.0 scoreless frames to complete the shutout and collect the save. Hudson Valley got the game-tying run to third base in the ninth inning, but Jacobson got Nathaniel Lowe to pop out to left field for the final out of the game.

Brooklyn will look to take the rubber game of the three-game series tomorrow night at 7:00 when they take on the Hudson Valley Renegades. Jose Reyes will be in the lineup again for Brooklyn as he continues his progression back to the big leagues. The first 2,000 fans in attendance will also receive Coney Island Skyline Socks. Tickets, which start at just $10, are still available by calling 718-507-TIXX, visiting BrooklynCyclones.com or in person at the MCU Park Box Office.
