Lexington Legends News Release

The Hagerstown Suns scored five runs in the ninth inning and came from behind for a 12-9 win over the Lexington Legends Sunday afternoon at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.

The Legends jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning, which included a three-run homer by Brandon Dulin. Dulin broke his bat on the homer, and with the bat in two pieces, the ball carried over the right field wall for his second home run of the season.

The Legends led 5-3 going into the top of the seventh inning. With one out, Grant DeBruin drew a walk, one of 12 received by Hagerstown hitters. Austin Davidson also walked, and both DeBruin and Davidson scored on a double by Ian Sagdal, who had three hits and three runs batted in. A wild pitch allowed Sagdal to go to third, and he scored the go-ahead run on a base hit by Jorge Tillero.

The Legends responded with three runs in the bottom of the seventh. Roman Collins reached on an error by DeBruin, the first baseman, and D.J. Burt walked. Anderson Miller singled, loading the bases, and Dulin walked to force in the tying run. Burt scored the tie-breaking run on a balk, and after Amalani Fukofuka walked and Michael Hill struck out, Marten Gasparini grounded into a force play as Miller scored, giving the Legends an 8-6 lead. Each team scored a run in the eighth, leaving the score at 9-7.

Sagdal started the Hagerstown ninth with a walk. Tillero singled, and was replaced by pinch-runner Jakson Reetz. A passed ball allowed the runners to advance to second and third, and Cody Dent walked, loading the bases. Telmito Agustin's single scored one run, and after Victor Robles struck out, Max Schrock cleared the bases with a three-run double, giving Hagerstown a 11-9 lead. Schrock went to third on the throw in from the outfield, and later scored the final run on a wild pitch.

Philip Walby (1-0), who entered the game in the seventh inning, picked up the win.

Nik Stephenson (1-4) took the loss in relief for the Legends.

Hagerstown swept the four-game series, which opened the second half of the season.

The Legends will open a three-game series against the West Virginia Power Monday night in Charleston. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
