(Asheville, NC)- The West Virginia Power doubled up the Asheville Tourists 6-3 on Sunday afternoon at McCormick Field. The Power used two home runs to rally back from an early deficit to earn a series split with the Tourists

Asheville scored twice against West Virginia starter Gage Hinsz in the home half of the first inning. Carlos Herrera scored on a ground out and Brian Mundell came around on a soft single to center by Chris Rabago for a 2-0 edge.

The Power leveled the score in the fourth. Mitchell Tolman worked a walk off Devin Hill with one down. Carlos Munoz drilled a pitch over the high right field wall for his fourth home run of the season and tied the game at two. West Virginia took a 3-2 lead in the fifth when Christian Kelley scored on a sac fly by Casey Hughston.

After the Tourists tied the game in the home half of the fifth, the Power regained the lead in the top of the seventh. Alfredo Reyes hit a two-run home run to right-center off Hill for a 5-3 lead. Reyes' home run was his third of the season and first since April 26.

Reyes added an insurance run in the top of the ninth for a 6-3 West Virginia advantage. With two down, the shortstop singled in Tyler Filliben to extend the lead. Reyes went 3-4 with three runs batted in and raised his average from .211 to .223.

Hinsz allowed three runs over five innings and did not factor in the decision. The 20-year-old struck out two and walked one. Seth McGarry (2-1) pitched two scoreless innings for the win. Cesilio Pimentel worked a scoreless eighth for his third hold and Julio Eusebio tossed a perfect ninth, striking out two for his fifth save of the year.

Hill (4-4) took the loss after surrendering the first five Power runs of the game over six and two-thirds.

West Virginia outhit Asheville 11-9 on Sunday and outscored them 23-17 in the series.

The Power open a seven-game homestand on Monday night against the Lexington legends. Mitch Keller will start for the West Virginia against Lexington's Yunior Marte. First pitch on a Family Buck Night is scheduled for 7:05 P.M.
