Norwich, Conn- The Hartford Yard Goats (40-33) were defeated by the Erie SeaWolves (34-43) by the score of 5-2 on Sunday afternoon at Dodd Stadium in Norwich in the rubber game of the three game series. Erie broke a 2-2 tie with a two out 2-RBI single by Dominic Ficociello, putting the Tigers affiliate ahead for good. Erie scored all five runs with two out hits. Dillon Thomas had two hits, including an RBI double and scored a run for the Yard Goats who fell to 5-2 in rubber games. Josh Turley pitched seven innings and earned his second win. The SeaWolves scored the first run of the game in the second inning off Hartford starter Sam Howard. Jason Krizan began the frame with a double and came in and scored on a two out double by Kody Eaves, giving Erie a 1-0 lead.

The Yard Goats tied the game with a run in the bottom half of the inning off Erie starter Josh Turley. Dillon Thomas began the inning with a single and was moved to second base on a bunt. Thomas took third base on a wild pitch and scored on a safety squeeze bunt by Zach Osborne, tying the game at 1-1 after two innings.

Again, the SeaWolves took the lead and again the Yard Goats tied the game in the bottom of the frame. Jason Krizan's RBI double put Erie ahead 2-1 in the third inning but Dillon Thomas clubbed an RBI double in the bottom of the inning to tie the contest at 2-2.

The SeaWolves rallied for a pair of runs in the fifth inning to take a 2-run lead. Erie loaded the bases on a single and two walks. Dominic Ficociello followed with a two out 2 RBI single scoring Corey Jones and Connor Harrell to make it 4-2 Erie. Erie added a run in the seventh inning on Ficociello's RBI single.

The Yard Goats begin a 3-game series against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Monday night in Manchester, NH (7:05 PM). RHP Zach Jemiola will start for Hartford while Jeremy Gabryszwski will start for the Fisher Cats. The game will be broadcast live on News Radio 1410 WPOP.
