Today's Game
Tonight, the Bisons take on the Indianapolis Indians in the second game of a three-game series from Victory Field (7:05 p.m.). The Herd has won four straight games and eight of their last 11 contests since June 14. Buffalo is 20-17 on the road this season.
Last Game (BUF 1, IND 0)
LHP Scott Diamond allowed just four singles over seven innings to lead the Bisons to a 1-0 win. RHP Ryan Tepera earned his team-best 11th save, his fifth of the two-inning variety. DH Jesus Montero drove in the games lone run and the Herd defense turned four doubleplays.
vs. Indianapolis (1-0)
Tonight's contest is the second of six between the former American Association rivals. The Indians don't come to Coca-Cola Field until August 9-11. With their win last night, the Bisons now have a .500-record in their 96 games played at Victory Field (48-48).
Roberto Hernandez
RHP Roberto Hernandez is coming off his longest outing of the season. The veteran worked 7.2 innings in a loss to Louisville last Monday, allowing four runs on eight hits. Hernandez has worked into the sixth inning in four of his last five starts and has allowed four runs or less in each of his last six outings.
Jesus Montero
DH Jesus Montero has averaged .500 (8-16) over his last four games with six runs driven in. The slugger now ranks 5th in the International League with a .305 average and 3rd with 44 RBI and 84 hits. Montero has averaged .315 so far in June with 19 RBI in just 22 games.
Ben Rowen
RHP Ben Rowen has not allowed a run in a month and a half. The reliever has made 16 scoreless appearances since May 8, a stretch that includes 22.1 innings of work, nine base hits and 18 strikeouts. Rowen has allowed just two of 18 inherited runners to score.
Ryan Tepera
RHP Ryan Tepera has posted a 0.93 ERA in 13 games since the beginning of May. He has nine saves over that span and 20 strikeouts to only nine hits allowed in 19.1 innings of work. Tepera's 11 saves on the season are 3rd-best in the International League.
Bisons Bits
The Bisons are an IL-best 27-6 (.818) when scoring first...The Bisons' 28 saves are four more than any other IL team...INF David Adams has reached base in 27 of his last 31 games with an at-bat, averaging .356 (32-90) since April 14...Buffalo is 27-3 when outhitting their opponents.
Blue Jays Update
The Blue Jays (40-35) are in action against the Chicago White Sox this afternoon. Toronto lost to Chicago last night, 3-2, for their fourth defeat in five games. Former Bisons' RHP Aaron Sanchez allowed just two runs over six innings but did not earn a decision. CF Kevin Pillar drove in both Blue Jays' runs with a pair of hits in four at-bats.
