Walla Walla Sweets News Release
Yakima, WASH- The Walla Walla Sweets (11-8) picked up their fifth straight win in Yakima 3-2 on Friday over the Yakima Valley Pippins (11-8). They still remain three games back of Victoria in the North Division.
The Sweets found the scoreboard first in the fourth inning on an RBI fielder's choice hit into by Nick Nyquist (Gonzaga). It was his 11th RBI on the year, good for second in the league.
Walla Walla then tacked on with two in the sixth inning on RBI singles by Willie MacIver (Washington) and Alex Muzzi (Long Beach State).
The Pippins fought back and scored two in the ninth inning, but Kyle Narahara (Cal State Monterey Bay) still picked up his sixth save on the season.
Ryan Anderson (Nevada) pitched brilliantly through seven innings, just giving up two hits and striking out six. Justin Bruihl (Cal Poly) came in and struck out the side in the eighth for the hold.
The Sweets will try to extend their five game hitting streak tomorrow at 7:05 against Yakima Valley when they send Chris Murphy (San Diego) to the mound.
