Iowa Wild News Release
DES MOINES, IA - The Iowa Wild, in conjunction with American Hockey League (AHL), proudly announced the team was named the AHL's Sponsorship Sales Department of the Year.
At the conclusion of this week's AHL Marketing Meetings, presented by ExteNet in Pittsburgh, PA, the Wild was honored as the Sponsorship Sales Department of the Year. Despite Des Moines standing as one of the smaller markets in the AHL, the Wild ranked among the best in overall growth, new and creative sponsorship ideas, as well as client retention. Iowa was also recognized with Team Achievement Awards, showing 15% growth in group ticket sales, over 10% growth in sponsorship sales, and over 550 new season tickets.
This is the second major award for the Iowa Wild. Last summer, Iowa was honored by the AHL for the Western Conference's Best Fan Experience Award for 2014-15. The Wild also set new attendance marks during the 2015-16 season. On Nov. 5, 2015, the team's Wild About Education School Day game welcomed 11,503 students - setting a new team attendance record. The Wild shot past that mark on Jan. 16, 2016, as Country Night drew an Iowa professional hockey record of 12,445 fans at Wells Fargo Arena. Over the course of three years in Des Moines, the team has been impactful in the community, helping generate nearly $500,000 from fundraising events and ticket/autograph memorabilia donations.
The Iowa Wild's 2016-17 regular season schedule will be announced late in the summer and single game tickets for the 2016-17 regular season will go on sale in September.
