WNBF 1290 AM

LAST TIME OUT: The B-Mets offense provided six runs on ten hits but it wasn't enough in a 9-6 loss to the Altoona Curve Thursday night at NYSEG Stadium. Josh Zeid was hit for five runs on six hits with four walks in five innings and Derrik Gibson went 4-for-5 with a run and two RBI.

BINGHAMTON STARTER: RHP Mickey Jannis gets the start for the B-Mets, his third start of the season against the Flying Squirrels. Jannis has gone 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA against Richmond and shone in his home start against the Flying Squirrels. On 5/23 at NYSEG Stadium, Jannis struck out a Double-A career high eight batters and allowed three hits over seven shutout innings. He took a no-decision in a 2-1 B-Mets win. Jannis has lost three-straight starts and is winless in his last 12. The B-Mets have lost each of his last five starts.

RICHMOND STARTER: RHP Kyle Crick will start for Richmond, hoping to carry momentum from his previous start. Crick held Portland to one run on five hits with five strikeouts in a season-high seven innings last Friday in Richmond. He makes his second appearance against the B-Mets, having limited them to one run on four hits in six innings on 5/23 at NYSEG Stadium.

SCUFFLING: Thursday's loss was Binghamton's sixth in a row and the ninth of its past ten. The B-Mets are a season-low 14 games below .500 and 21.5 games out of first place. They have been swept in back to back series for the first time this season. Binghamton's six-game losing streak is the longest since a season-high eight-game losing streak from 5/7-5/14.

FOUR HITS THIS TIME: Derrik Gibson went 4-for-5 on Thursday, his third four-hit game of the season and the fifth by a B-Met. Thursday was the first time that Binghamton lost a game in which one of its players recorded four hits.

OFFENSE AWAKENING: The B-Mets scored over three runs for the first time in their past ten games in Thursday's 9-6 loss. Binghamton has ten hits in each of the last two games, the first time it's tallied two straight double-digit hit games since 6/10-11.

WEAK STARTS: Over the current six-game losing streak, B-Mets starting pitchers are 0-5 with a 6.90 ERA (23 ER, 30 IP). Binghamton has one quality start through the six games, Tyler Pill held Altoona to three runs in six innings on Wednesday.

THE NEW GUY: Amed Rosario joined Binghamton from St. Lucie (High-A) on Thursday and smacked a pinch-hit double in his first Double-A at bat of the season. Rosario hit .309 with eight triples and 40 RBI in 66 games with St. Lucie and was named a FSL Mid-Season All-Star. He played two regular season games with the B-Mets in 2015 and was the starting shortstop for all three postseason games. Rosario is rated by Baseball America as the number two prospect in the Mets organization.

NEXT GAME PREVIEW: Game two of the three-game series is set for 7:05 PM on Saturday. RHP Casey Delgado starts for the B-Mets against RHP Sam Coonrod for the Flying Squirrels.
