THEY WELCOME IN THE BEST : The Portland Sea Dogs open up a 3-game series against the Reading Fightin Phils (Phillies affiliate) on Friday night at Hadlock Field...Reading's .699 winning percentage is the best in all of Major and Minor League Baseball...Portland dropped two of three to start the homestand and finished 7-8 during a 15-game stretch against the Western Division...RHP Mitch Atkins makes his 230th career start - the most among active minor league pitchers.
NICE DEBUT : LHP Jalen Beeks (L) fanned a career-high 10 batters over 5 innings on 4 runs (3 earned) in Portland's 5-2 loss to the Senators on Thursday night...Aneury Tavarez led off the fifth inning with a solo-homer putting the 'Dogs on the board...In the eighth, Mauricio Dubon tripled for his first Double-A hit and scored on a ground out by Andrew Benintendi...Harrisburg's Phillips Valdez allowed one run on five hits over five innings to earn the win.
