Missoula PaddleHeads News Release

MISSOULA, MONT. - Trailing 6-0 headed into the bottom of the sixth inning, the Missoula Osprey (2-5) scored four times in the bottom of the sixth and three more in the bottom of the seventh to capture a 7-6 victory over Billings (3-4) on Thursday night from Ogren Park Allegiance Field.

Anfernee Grier, who was making his Osprey debut after being selected with Arizona's first pick of the 2016 MLB Draft, led off the sixth inning with a hit-by-pitch before Tanner Hill doubled to put runners at second and third. Didimo Bracho plated the first Osprey run with a single into centerfield before Eudy Ramos laced a two-RBI double down the left field line to make it 6-3. Jasrado Chisholm put the finishing touches on the four-run sixth with a single back up the middle to bring home Logan Soole, who had walked earlier in the frame.

Ramos was back at it again in the seventh, coming to the plate with two on and two out and the Osprey trailing 6-4. The right-handed hitter unloaded on a pitch from reliever Carlos Machorro, sending the ball toward the Clark Fork River to hand Missoula the 7-6 lead. Ramos finished the game 2-for-5 with five RBI, eventually saddling Machorro with the loss after allowing three runs on four hits over 1.2 innings.

Bryant Holtmann got the start for Missoula, but did not factor in the decision after allowing six runs (four earned) on six hits over 4.2 innings. The lefty turned the ball over to right-hander Gabe Gonzalez with two out in the fifth, and Gonzalez tossed the next 3.1 scoreless to pick up the victory and move to 1-0 on the season. Austin Mason, who was added to the Missoula roster for a second stint with the O's prior to Thursday's game, entered in the ninth and closed the door with a scoreless frame - earning his first save of the year.

While Ramos' night was the clear-cut highlight offensively, Chisholm also finished with multiple hits, going 3-for-5 with an RBI. Hill, Billy Endris and Bracho all chipped in two hits, with Hill scoring twice in the victory. Potentially turning the corner at the plate, the O's scored a season-high seven runs on a season-best 13 hits while striking out just eight times - snapping a streak of six straight games with 10+ strikeouts.

Missoula will continue the four-game series with Billings tomorrow night at 6:35 p.m. Tomorrow's game is the first Firework Extravaganza of the year, and the O's will also be wearing Not So Ugly Christmas Jerseys that will be auctioned off with proceeds benefitting the Ronald McDonald House Charities. Fans are encouraged to bid on the jerseys online and at the game.
