Pierson Wins It in Fourteenth Inning

(Burlington-IA) - The Burlington Bees (33-38) battled back after seeing their three run lead disappear to defeat the Peoria Chiefs (40-31) on Thursday night at Community Field.
The Bees struck first, scoring a pair of runs in the fourth inning. Jared Foster doubled with one out and then came home to score on a Ranyelmy Alberto double, putting the Bees on top 1-0. Alberto then came home to score on a wild pitch, extending the Bees lead to 2-0. The Bees made a three run game in the fifth inning. Jordan Serena reached on a fielders choice and then stole second base. With two outs, Michael Hermosillo ripped a double to left, scoring Serena, upping the lead to 3-0.
After scoring a run in the sixth inning on a Brian O'Keefe single, the Chiefs took the lead in the seventh. Peoria batted nine times scoring two runs on a Dylan Becker double and the go ahead run on a Magneuris Sierra single, giving the Chiefs a 4-3 lead.
The Bees bounced back to tie it in the ninth inning. Jared Walsh started the frame with a walk and then moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Michael Pierson then tied the game, dropping a single into left, scoring Walsh, sending the game to extra innings. It was Pierson again, this time to win it in the 14th inning. Alexi Rivera led off the 14th with a single and stole second. After a walk and catcher's interference loaded the bases, Michael Pierson singled to left, scoring Rivera, giving the Bees a 5-4 victory over Peoria.
Bees' reliever Tyler Watson (2-1) earned the win while Harley Holt (0-3) was charged the loss for Peoria. The Burlington Bees and the Peoria Chiefs continue the series on Friday night at 6:30.
