Greensboro Blanks Legends 3-0; Afternoon Game Wednesday

Four Greensboro pitchers teamed up for a seven-hit shutout as the Grasshoppers won 3-0 Tuesday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.

Starter Chris Paddack (1-0) worked the first five innings and picked up the win. He gave up three hits, struck out seven batters and walked none. Brett Lilek pitched the sixth inning, Kyle Keller worked the seventh and eighth, and Scott Squier retired the Legends in order in the ninth and earned his fourth save.

Former University of Kentucky star Kyle Barrett had three hits in four at bats for Greensboro.

Josh Naylor put the Grasshoppers in front with a solo homer in the first inning. The score remained 1-0 until the seventh. With one out, Angel Reyes walked, moved to second on a wild pitch and to third on a ground out by Korey Dunbar. Barrett followed with a single to left field to score Reyes.

Dunbar's homer in the ninth gave Greensboro its final run.

Legends starter Emilio Ogando (4-4) was the losing pitcher. He worked six and one-third innings and allowed five hits and two runs.

Greensboro has won the first two games of the series, which concludes Wednesday. Game time is 12:35 p.m.
