Can-Am League Game Recaps

May 30, 2016 - Canadian American League (Can-Am) News Release

Rockland 5, Ottawa 3 - 10 Innings

Rockland's C Alex DeBellis doubled home LF Mike Schwartz and 1B Jared Schlehuber, who both walked, in the top of the 10th inning for what proved to be the winning runs as the Boulders pushed past the Ottawa Champions 5-3 in extras.

DeBellis scored two batters later when 2B Ray Frias singled and the Champions committed an error on the play. In the bottom of the inning, CF Sebastien Boucher drew a leadoff walk and scored on a wild pitch during RF Kenny Bryant's at-bat but two batters later, Reliever Donnie Joseph forced DH Jason Coker to pop out to centerfield to end the game. Joseph earned the save for working the 10th and Reliever Hector Nelo was credited with the win.

At the plate, both Frias and Schlehuber had two hits for the Boulders and both 2B Albert Cartwright and SS Ryan Brockett had two-hit games for the Champions. DeBellis was the only player to have more than one RBI in the game.

Trois-Rivieres 4, Sussex County 3 - 10 Innings

With the score tied at three in the top of the tenth inning, Trois-Rivieres' 1B Daniel Mateo scored the go-ahead run as C Kyle Lafrenz reached on an error. The Aigles sat the Miners down in order in the bottom of the frame to claim a 4-3, extra-inning win.

The Aigles built an early lead thanks to a solo home run from LF Sam Judah in the second and a pair of unearned runs in the third. But the Miners rallied in the fourth to tie the score. SS Ryan Dent started the scoring by doubling home LF Carl Thomore and Dent later scored on a single from 1B Nick Giarraputo. Giarraputo scored the game-tying run on a two-out single by 2B Steve Nyisztor.

For the game, Trois-Rivieres' 2B Jalen Harris had a game-high three hits and both Mateo and Judah added two hits apiece.
