DAVENPORT, Iowa - The Quad Cities River Bandits took the lead in the eighth, but dropped the contest as the Peoria Chiefs scored twice in the ninth to win 6-5 in front of 2, 469 fans at Modern Woodmen Park on Memorial Day. The Bandits came back twice in the series finale, but split the series after Ralph Garza hit a batter with the bases loaded in a tied game in the top of the ninth.

Peoria trailed Quad Cities for the first time in the contest entering the ninth inning, but bounced back to retake the lead. The Chiefs got going in the frame with four-straight one-out singles, including an RBI-single from Vaughn Bryan to score Leo Pina and tie the game. With the bases loaded, Garza hit Eliezer Alvarez on the knee, walking in Craig Aikin to put Peoria back in the lead, 6-5.

The Bandits tied the game in the seventh and took the lead in the eighth. Myles Straw, who had three hits in the game, singled and later scored on a single from Kyle Tucker to tie the game 3-3. After Edmundo Sosa scored on a wild pitch in the top of the eighth to put Peoria on top 4-3, the Bandits responded with two runs in the bottom of the frame.
