 Texas Revolution

Revs in San Angelo

May 30, 2016 - Champions Indoor Football (CIF)
Texas Revolution News Release

Your Revolution head to west Texas to face the San Angelo Bandits. Although the Bandits have nothing to lose, they will most certainly be playing for pride. Last Saturday, the Bandits found themselves on the losing end of a game against the Dodge City Law that remained tightly contested until midway through the 2nd quarter. Bandits Quarterback, Chris Mitchell found newly signed Receivers Larry Cobb and Mychal Lemon in the endzone three times in the first half. Offensively, Cobb and Lemons play in their first CIF action was the only bright spot for San Angelo. On the other side of the ball, the Bandits defense surrendered 90 points in a game that was a one point contest at the 4:53 mark of the second quarter. Law Running Back Dominique Carson had a breakout performance, rushing for 59 yards and 5 touchdowns. Law Quarterback Derrick Bernard had 8 total touchdowns (5 passing 3 rushing) and 69 all-purpose yards. Unfortunately, Mitchell was injured in the second quarter for the Bandits and did not return. In his absence, the team was forced to turn to emergency Quarterback, Receiver Antonio Bray.

The Revolution played in a similar game one day prior against the Mesquite Marshals, except they scored 92 points in a victory. Revs Quarterback Robert Kent Jr. posted similar passing numbers to Law Quarterback Derrick Bernard. Kent was pulled at the beginning of the second half, after throwing touchdown passes to three different Receivers. He finished the game with 176 yards and 6 touchdowns. Running Back Darius Fudge also had a nice game, which he capped off with a 42 kick return touchdown. The Revolution defense forced 4 turnovers.

Mondays contest will presumably play out as the aforementioned games did. It's a matchup between a 2 and 8 team, who last week was without a backup Quarterback and a Kicker and a 9-1 team with stars on both sides of the ball. That being said, last week the Bandits proved that they can compete with the upper echelon teams in the CIF. The question that will be answered on the 23rd is, can they do it for more than roughly two quarters? If the Bandits are not able to beat the Revs at home, your Revolution will clinch a first round bye and home field advantage throughout the playoffs. The Revs are hosting a watch party for Mondays game at Game on Sports Bar and Grill in Fairview, beginning at 7pm. Dean Heating and Air Conditioning is providing a limited supply of appetizers. Bring the family, come early, and stay until time expires to cheer the Revs to a victory on Monday Night Football, indoor style.
