Headlines

- New York has had a week off since falling to the Atlanta Dream, 85-79, in overtime. The Liberty played back-to-back overtime games for the first time since the 2010 season, but unfortunately fell short in both. Tina Charles led New York in scoring (29), rebounding (10), steals (7), and assists (6) against Atlanta.

- Tina Charles, the reigning Eastern Conference Player of the Week, heads into this week as the league leader in scoring (23.5 ppg) and rebounding (12.0 rpg). She has posted a double-double in all four games this season.

- Tina Charles and Sugar Rodgers have been shouldering a big workload for the Liberty, ranking third and fourth in the league in minutes per game respectively. Charles is averaging 35.5 mpg and Rodgers is at 35.0 mpg.

- The Liberty had the top defensive unit in the WNBA last season and so far this year New York is off to an historic pace, limiting foes to just .339 percent from the field. New York also ranks fourth in the league in points allowed at 77.8 per contest.

- New York swept two games against Minnesota last year, winning the season series for the first time since 2007. The Liberty has won three straight in the series dating back to 2014.

TINA CHARLES POSTING BIG NUMBERS

Heading into this week's games, Tina Charles leads the WNBA in scoring and rebounding. Charles has posted a double-double in all four games so far this season, and is coming off a season-high 29 point performance against Atlanta on May 24. She is averaging 23.5 ppg and 12.0 rpg, and also ranks third in the league in minutes (35.5), fourth in steals (2.8) and ninth in assists (4.0).

EASTERN CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - TINA CHARLES - MAY 24

Tina Charles was named the WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the 15th time in her career on May 24. Over the first three games of the season she led the league in rebounding (12.7 rpg) and ranked first in the Eastern Conference in scoring (21.7 ppg) and sixth in assists (3.3 apg). She led the Liberty in scoring in all three games over the first week of the season in addition to posting three double-doubles.

SWIN CASH IS BACK WITH THE LIBERTY

The Liberty announced it had signed free agent forward Swin Cash to a rest of season contract on May 24. Cash was waived by the Liberty on May 11 in order for the team to meet its WNBA salary cap requirements. Per league rules, New York was required to wait a minimum of 10 days before Cash was eligible to re-sign with the team. Cash, originally acquired by New York from the Atlanta Dream in exchange for DeLisha Milton-Jones during the 2014 season, has appeared in 40 games for the Liberty, making 32 starts. Last year, she started 28-of-34 games played, averaging 4.5 points and 2.4 rebounds per game.

SWORDS GRABS CAREER-HIGH 11 BOARDS

Center Carolyn Swords grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds against the Atlanta Dream on May 24, with four of them coming on the offensive end. It was the first time this season a player other than Tina Charles led the Liberty in rebounding. Swords, who has started 26-straight regular season games for New York, is currently averaging career-bests in scoring (6.5 ppg) and rebounding (5.3 rpg).

SHOULDERING A HEAVY WORKLOAD

Tina Charles and Sugar Rodgers have been logging a lot of minutes for Liberty, ranking third and fourth in the WNBA respectively in minutes played per game, with Charles at 35.5 mpg and Rodgers at 35.0 mpg. Additionally, Charles is second in the league with a 32.8 Usage Percentage and she ranks first with a Player Impact Estimate of 25.6.
