SALT LAKE CITY - The Salt Lake Bees fell to the Nashville Sounds by a score of 7 to 4 Sunday evening in front of a crowd of 5,919. Kyle McGowin got his fifth start of the season and turned in six and two-thirds innings allowing three earned runs, and another three unearned runs. McGowin struck out seven, tying his Triple-A high which he set on May 19th of this month against the Oklahoma City Dodgers. Salt Lake got on the scoreboard in the first inning with a Ji-Man Choi RBI single. The Bees added another run in the third inning, scoring Ryan Jackson who extended his hitting streak to eight. Nashville responded in the top of the fourth inning with a four spot to take the lead. The Sounds added two runs in the fifth and another run in eighth to push their score to seven. Salt Lake pushed for a late comeback as the first three batters all reached base with Jefry Marte scoring on a Choi single to bring the Bees within three. With the bases loaded and one out Juan Graterol and Ryan Jackson both struck out swinging to end the threat in the ninth.
Nashville right fielder Max Muncy finished 3-for-5, just a homerun shy of the cycle. The Sounds combined for 10 hits. Over the past three games in Salt Lake, Nashville has totaled 32 hits. After a 3-for-5 night yesterday, Ji-Man Choi added three more singles tonight raising his batting average to .341 since joining the Bees.
