Burlington Bees News Release

(Burlington-IA) - The Burlington Bees (22-27) scored all of their runs in the ninth inning on their way to a 4-3 win over the Clinton LumberKings (26-23) on Sunday at Community Field.

The LumberKings would strike first, in a big way. With one out in the top of the first inning, Raydar Ascanio smashed a solo home run over the right field wall. The next batter, Dalton Kelley, smacked a home run below the scoreboard on right center, making the score 2-0 in favor of the LumberKings in the first inning.

Kelly led off the top of the eighth with a double and would move to third on a wild pitch. With the infield pulled in, Logan Taylor lined a single to center, scoring Kelly, upping the LumberKings lead to 3-0.

Trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the ninth inning, Jared Foster picked up his second hit of the game, a double off the left field wall. After a ground out, Ranyelmy Alberto reached on an error, putting runners at second and third with one out. LumberKings reliever Dylan Silva then walked Walsh, loading the bases. After a pitching change, Alexi Rivera pinch hit, lining single into center, scoring both Foster and Alberto, cutting the deficit to 3-2. The next batter, Brendon Sanger singled to right, scoring Walsh tying the game. Kyle Wilcox then walked three straight Bees' hitters, walking Alex Abbott with the bases loaded, scoring Sanger, giving the Bees a 4-3 win.

Bees reliever Winston Lavendier (1-0) earned his first win of the season, allowing one run in two innings of relief. Clinton reliever Kyle Wilcox (1-4) was charged with the loss. The Bees and the LumberKings wrap up the series on Memorial Day at 2:00. Jared Ruxer makes the start for the Bees against Nick Wells for Clinton.
