New Britain Bees News Release

(Central Islip, NY.)- The New Britain Bees could not earn their first win of a four-game series this season and instead settle for their second split as the team dropped Sunday's series finale to the Long Island Ducks 12-3.

PITCHERS OF RECORD

W: Patrick Crider (2-0) | L: Shawn Haviland (1-1)

The Bees got out to an early lead in the game, picking up a run in the third inning on an RBI by Kevin Rivers to put the Bees up 1-0. Though Bees' starter Shawn Haviland gave up three runs in the bottom half of the inning to put the Ducks up by two, the Bees came right back to tie things back up. After back-to-back singles to open the fourth, James Skelton singled home a run to cut the lead to one, and New Britian would later tie it on another RBI single, this time by Jonathan Roof.

The game would remain knotted at three until the bottom of the sixth when Long Island broke out for five runs in the inning off the combination of Haviland and reliever Grady Wood. All five runs came in four consecutive at-bats, highlighted by a two-run single by Ducks' outfielder Fehlandt Lentini. The veteran Lentini drove in four runs total on the afternoon. The Ducks would add four more runs in the remaining two innings (three in the 7th, one in the 8th) to secure the win and split of the four-game series.

The Bees will have Memorial Day off, then return to action Tuesday as they make their first trip to Texas to take on the Sugar Land Skeeters. New Britain will send left-hander Josh Outman to the hill in the first game of the three-game series.
