ABOUT LAST GAME: The Fireflies lost Saturday night's game to West Virginia, 12-2. Tyler Bashlor tossed two more scoreless innings; his ERA is a team-best (among relievers) 1.19.
CONLON DAY: P.J. Conlon is the only pitcher in Minor League Baseball this year to win seven straight starts. His seven wins and 1.06 ERA are the best in the South Atlantic League. There's only one other pitcher in professional baseball that has a current consecutive start win streak that matches Conlon's mark: New York Mets starter Steven Matz. The 25-year-old lefty (who celebrates his birthday today) pitched in the SAL in 2013 for the Savannah Sand Gnats.
MAJOR LEAGUE STREAK: Here are the longest consecutive start win streaks in professional baseball this year:

TABLE-SETTER: Vinny Siena has been one of the best overall players in the South Atlantic League this season. His on-base percentage is tops in the league (.451). He's hit leadoff eight times this year including the last six games. He has a hit in his first at-bat in six straight games.
WHAT'S AT STAKE: The Fireflies are looking to keep pace with Southern-Division leading Charleston RiverDogs. Columbia is 5.5 games back of 1st place with 21 games left in the 1st half.
THE OTHER GUYS: West Virginia has four Pirates prospects on its roster, according to MLB.com.
