May 29, 2016 - Atlantic League (AtL)
New Britain Bees News Release

In 140 Characters or Less: The Bees look for the series win over the Ducks this afternoon with Shawn Haviland on the bump! First pitch 1:35PM!

Series: The two teams split yesterday's doubleheader, with the Ducks blanking the Bees 6-0 in the first game and the Bees coming back to win game two by a score of 9-7. The Bees hold the lead in the season series 4-2.

Bees Home Tickets: Available at the New Britain Stadium Box Office | Call 860-826-BEES

The Bees: Shawn Haviland will make his third start since entering the rotation on May 18. In his two previous starts, the right-hander did not allow more than three runs in either start but also lasted no longer than five innings. He has made two appearances against Long Island this season, both in relief (April 25 and 26), pitching two innings and surrendering no runs.

The Opposition: Outfielder Lew Ford has made life very difficult for the Bees' pitching staff this season. The former big leaguer is hitting .500 (12-24) so far this season against New Britain with four RBIs and three runs scored. He is also hitting .348 on the season and is tied for second in the league in RBIs with 24.

Starters

New Britain- RHP Shawn Haviland (1-0, 3.80) | Long Island- RHP Mark Blackmar (3-1, 1.26)

Key to the Game- The Dynamic Duo: Craig Maddox and Jovan Rosa both have been thorns in the side of Ducks pitchers this season. Maddox is hitting .429 with two home runs and four RBIs in three games against the Ducks, while Rosa is hitting .333 with a homer and five RBIs. If that duo can replicate the success they've had in this series (and all season) against Mark Blackmar today, look for the Bees to have a great chance at taking this series.

Bees Buzz: Jon Jones has picked up at least one hit in all five games he has played in against Long Island (7-22)...The Bees will look to earn their first series win of a four-game series this season (0-2-1 in three previous four-games series)...Craig Maddox (eight games), Jovan Rosa (six), Kevin Rivers (five), and Jon Joes (five) all will look to extend their respective hitting streaks today...
