Suns Defeat Legends in Game One of Four Game Set

HAGERSTOWN, Md. - The Hagerstown Suns (29-17) defeated the Lexington Legends (19-28) 9-8 on Thursday night in the first game of their four game series at Municipal Stadium.
Kelvin Gutierrez had four RBIs, making him a key offensive player is Thursday night's game.
The Suns found their spark and took the lead in the third inning. Edwin Lora started the inning off with a double to left field and advanced to third on a fly out to right field by Victor Robles.
With two outs, Gutierrez hit a 2 RBI single. Gutierrez scored from second on a throwing error to first by Lexington's Catcher, Chase Vallot.
The Suns came out of the third inning with a 3-0 lead.
Hagerstown's starting pitcher, Matthew DeRosier, pitched five innings giving up three hits, before Tommy Peterson came in to start the sixth.
Lexington scored their first run on an RBI double by Samir Duenez in the sixth inning. They went on the tie the game in the seventh with after an RBI single by Tanner Stanley and an RBI double by Mike Hill.
In the bottom of the seventh, Gutierrez hit another 2 RBI single with two outs to put the Suns on top 5-3.
Max Schrock scored on a single by Rhett Wiseman and Gutierrez scored on a single by Jakson Reetz. The suns ended the seventh on top 8-3 and scored one more run on a single by Victor Robles.
Peterson was replaced by Mariano Rivera lll to start the eighth inning and Mariano Rivera lll was replaced by Mick VanVossen in the ninth.
Duenez hit an RBI double and Travis Maezes hit a 2-run homer in the eighth inning to make the score 8-6 and scored two more runs in the ninth to make the final score 9-8.
Lexington's starting pitcher, Emilio Ogando threw 6.2 innings, before Mark McCoy came in in the seventh inning to finish the game.
Hagerstown's Andrew Lee (2-1, 3.89) will face Lexington's Scott Blewett (2-4, 4.74) in game two of the series tomorrow night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET at Municipal Stadium.
