Louisville Bats News Release
MOOSIC, Pa. - The Louisville Bats beat the Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, 5-0. With the win, the Bats have now won their seventh series of the season.
Rehabbing right-hander Jon Moscot (1-2, 6.97) earned the win, pitching six shutout innings, allowing four hits and striking out four. He threw 81 pitches (47 strikes).
The Bats got on the board early in the top of the second, with a single by Carlos Triunfel scoring Steve Selsky, who doubled to begin the inning, to put the Bats up 1-0.
The RailRiders threatened in the bottom of the third, loading the bases with three straight singles, but a 5-2-3 double play started by Bats third baseman Jermaine Curtis and a timely Moscot strikeout kept the RailRiders off the board as the Bats held onto their 1-0 lead.
The Bats scored two more runs in the third, as a Kyle Waldrop double scored Selsky and Triunfel, extending the Bats' lead to 3-0. Louisville scored one more in the third on a Jose Peraza single to put the Bats up 4-0.
The Bats padded their lead in the fifth, as a double by Triunfel knocked in Jesse Winker, which extended their lead 5-0, which would be the final score.
Relievers Steve Delabar, Wandy Peralta, and Jumbo Diaz combined for three scoreless innings out of the bullpen.
Louisville will be back in action tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. as the Bats take on the Lehigh Valley IronPigs for the first time in 2016. Right-hander Robert Stephenson (3-2, 3.02) will take the mound for the Bats, with the IronPigs expected to counter with right-hander Alec Asher (4-2, 2.30).
