Capitols' Name Jake Suter Assistant Coach

MADISON, WI - The Madison Capitols, a member of the United States Hockey League, announced Jake Suter as the team's assistant coach on Thursday.

Suter, 25, recently completed his playing career in Europe with the Strasbourg Black Star of the Ligue Magnus in France. The 6-foot, 200-pound defenseman recorded seven points (1-6=7) and 10 penalty minutes in 20 games with Strasbourg.

"Jake is a great addition to our coaching staff," said Capitols' General Manager and Head Coach Garrett Suter. "He has been around hockey his entire life, and just recently finished his playing career. His knowledge and experience is an asset to our team, and we're excited to get started!"

Suter played for four seasons with the University of Massachusetts-Lowell River Hawks from 2011-15. The defenseman collected 31 points (4-27=31) and 105 penalty minutes in 153 games with the River Hawks. Following the 2014-15 season, Suter appeared in six games with the ECHL's South Carolina Stingrays. He recorded an assist and two penalty minutes with the Stingrays.

The native of Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin played for the Sioux City Musketeers of the USHL during the 2010-11 season. He recorded seven points (1-6=7) and 83 penalty minutes in 55 games.
