Texas AirHogs News Release

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - The AirHogs won a thriller vs. Fargo Wednesday morning, taking the rubber match of the three-game set by a final of 4-3. Home runs in the bottom of the 8th inning by Brian Bistagne, Juan Sanchez, and Burt Reynolds helped the team overcome an early 1-0 deficit and get the win.

Griffin Russell got the ball to start for the AirHogs. The lefty spun 6 2/3 innings, striking out 4, allowing 4 hits, and surrendering just 1 run on an RBI groundout by CF Kes Carter in the 2nd. Will Mathis got the start for the RedHawks, and, in his first start of the year, he was terrific as well, pitching shutout ball into the 7th before passing off to Colton Reavis.

It was Reavis whom the AirHogs got to in the 8th. Brian Bistagne started the party with a 1-out blast to left to tie the game 1-1. After Michael Hur reached on an error, Juan Sanchez came up with his 2nd game-winning hit of the series. The shortstop, who walked the RedHawks off Monday with a single, launched a 2-run blast into the seats in left. Burt Reynolds followed with a solo home run of his own, making it 4-1.

The RedHawks made it interesting in the top of the 9th. C Luke Bailey tagged closer Alan Oaks for a home run to left center, and Carter reached with a triple before scoring on an RBI groundout by RF KD Kang. SS Cory Morales reached with a 2-out single but was left on when Oaks got his 2nd strikeout of the inning, finishing off LF Chad Mozingo to seal the AirHogs' 4th win in the last 5 games.

Carlos Misell, who stranded 2 in the 8th after entering in the 7th in relief of Russell, got his 1st win. Reavis took his 1st loss, and Oaks notched his 2nd save. The AirHogs, as of Wednesday afternoon, are tied for the league lead in home runs after the parade of long balls in the 8th.

The squad enjoys an off day tomorrow before opening a 3-game set vs. Laredo at AirHogs Stadium on Friday. F1st pitch is slated for 7:05 pm, and Ethan Carnes (1-0) is expected to start on the mound.

A live radio broadcast of the game will be available on mixlr.com/TXAirHogs. Dallas Cowboys legend Bill Bates will be in attendance for a fan meet-and-greet and autograph session. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by visiting airhogsbaseball.com or by calling 972-237-7695.
