Indy Eleven News Release

INDIANAPOLIS - Indy Eleven Professional Soccer has stepped up the competition for the club's annual international friendly, as the North American Soccer League side today announced current Mexican Liga BBVA Bancomer (Liga MX) playoff finalist C.F. Pachuca as its exhibition guest on Sunday, June 26. Kickoff for the matinee match at IUPUI's Michael A. Carroll Stadium, presented by Central Indiana Honda Dealers and Indiana Donor Network, is set for 1:00 p.m. ET

"Indy Eleven is excited to welcome one of Mexican soccer's most iconic clubs to the Hoosier State," said Indy Eleven owner Ersal Ozdemir. "The friendly against Pachuca will be more than a soccer game - it will be a showcase combining Indianapolis' thriving sports and cultural communities. Indy Eleven is proud to serve as ambassadors for our city through the world's most popular sport during what will be a high-profile weekend."

While representatives from C.F. Pachuca could not be present for today's announcement they have a valid excuse, as los Tuzos are preparing to face Monterrey in Liga MX's Apertura (Opening) tournament playoff finals series being held Thursday (9:00 p.m. ET kickoff) and Sunday (9:30 p.m.). Indy Eleven invites local fans to cheer on Pachuca across the upcoming Memorial Day weekend at Liga MX Finals Watch Parties to be hosted at Adobo Grill (110 E. Washington St. in downtown Indianapolis) on both evenings.

Indy Eleven season ticket holders will have the first chance to purchase tickets for the exhibition match via an exclusive on-sale window lasting through this Friday, May 27, at 11:00 a.m. ET, at which point seats will go on sale to the public via IndyEleven.com and by phone at 317-685-1100 (weekdays from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday).

Tickets for the match will remain at the same price as regular season Indy Eleven games - starting at $11 - until the day of the event, when they will be raised slightly when sales open at the Carroll Stadium Box Office at 10:00 a.m.; see the chart below for full details.

The Indy Eleven-Pachuca game will be part of a busy weekend of events downtown, which includes Radio Latina's annual Dia de la Familia, a day-long festival to be held at Military Park the day of the friendly. With the celebration just blocks away from Carroll Stadium, Indy Eleven is partnering with Radio Latina to make the Dia de la Familia event the Official Tailgate Headquarters for the match starting when gates at Military Park open at 11:00 a.m., with merchandise giveaway and other promotional details to be announced in the build-up June 26.

The oldest professional club in Mexico, Club de Futbol Pachuca - based in the state of Hildago, considered the "birthplace of Mexican soccer" - traces its roots back to the 1890's when it was formed by area miners as an amateur team, later becoming a founding member of the regional Mexican Primera Division in 1907. After a hiatus from competition in the early half of the 20th century, the club returned to Mexico's top two divisions from the 60's through early 90's before establishing itself in the First Division - now Liga MX - for the last 33 years.

The squad has since collected four titles in CONCACAF Champions League/Cup play (the regional club championship for North America, Central America and the Caribbean) and will chase its sixth Primera Division championship since 1999 in the upcoming days.

"Pachuca has a roster full of international-caliber talent, and they will represent as tough a test as we can possibly face to prepare us for the Fall Season and hopefully more U.S. Open Cup games," said Indy Eleven head coach Tim Hankinson. "We urge the Brickyard Battalion and the rest of the Indy Eleven faithful come out to support both teams for what should be an outstanding display of soccer for lovers of the sport."

Pachuca is considered to have one of the premier academy systems in all of the Americas, and los Tuzos - and Mexico's national teams - are currently reaping the rewards. While forward Hirving Lozano will be looking to represent the Mexican National Team in the Copa America final - also taking place on June 26 - Mexican U-23 National Team midfielders Erick Gutierrez and Rodolfo Pizarro could be eligible to make the trip to the Hoosier State before they take part in the Summer Olympic Games in Rio in August.

In addition, American soccer fans will be well acquainted with Pachuca defender and U.S. international Omar Gonzalez, the 2011 MLS Defender of the Year and three-time MLS Cup champion with the LA Galaxy who suited up for the U.S. Men's National Team at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
