Greenville Drive News Release

Asheville, NC - On getaway day in Asheville, Anderson Espinoza helped the Greenville Drive get away in a hurry, as he led the team's strong pitching effort in a 4-0 win over the Asheville Tourists on Wednesday.

Espinoza (3-4) worked a career-high six innings and allowed just two hits while striking out three. He did not issue a walk and threw only 67 pitches.

Jake Cosart followed with two scoreless innings for the Drive (22-23), and he struck out four. Bobby Poyner finished things off with a perfect ninth to preserve the shutout.

Tourists (23-21) starter Peter Lambert (2-2) was terrific as well, allowing just one hit over five innings, but the Drive plated a run off of him in the second. Josh Ockimey doubled to begin the frame and later came home on an RBI groundout by Luis Alexander Basabe.

Ockimey added to the lead in the seventh when he smacked a Drasen Johnson offering over the wall in right-center for a solo homer to make the score 2-0.

The Drive tacked on two more insurance runs in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Mitchell Gunsolus and an RBI double by Tate Matheny.

Ockimey paced the Drive offense with two hits and two runs in the game.

From here, the Drive head south to continue their road trip, as they begin a four-game series with the Rome Braves, affiliate of the Atlanta Braves, at 7:05 on Thursday night. Right-hander Marc Brakeman (1-3, 6.14) starts in the opener for the Drive, and the Braves will send RH Touki Toussaint (1-4, 5.73) to the mound.
